I built a jewelry business from nothing. Now I teach what I learned.

I'm Valentina. I founded AVM Gems, a custom jewelry studio at Scottsdale Fashion Square. We make custom gold grillz, engagement rings, and custom jewelry with every kind of stone. Natural diamonds, lab diamonds, moissanite, sapphires, emeralds, whatever the piece calls for. Some pieces start with a 3D scan and CAD. Some start with a putty impression. I do both, and I know when each one is the right call.

I was born in Medellín, Colombia. I moved to North Carolina at 14 without the language. When you come from a country where most people never get a real shot, you see this one differently. You notice every open door. You don't waste any of them. I can't fully explain it in plain words, but I always had a feeling that I was here for something big. Not just for myself. I wanted to build something that showed other people the door was open for them too.

At 21 I started selling jewelry from a kiosk in the middle of a mall. I learned fast that the jewelry industry runs on customers not knowing what they're buying. I wanted to do the opposite. Educate people first, so they buy with their eyes open. Businesses exist to make a profit. But you can do it transparently, professionally, and curated for the person in front of you instead of for everyone at once.

In 2024 I moved to Arizona and launched AVM Gems. I bootstrapped everything and did everything myself. It was the hardest year of my life. What I wish I knew on day one: entrepreneurship is solving problems, every day, and that never changes. Once you accept that, it gets easier.

That's why this is called Valentina Made It. Not because I'm done. Because I came from a place where making it wasn't supposed to happen, and it did. If I made it, you can make it too. This site is where I show you how.
